The El Porto Surf Bus, also known as the Life Is Beautiful Bus, or Good Vibes Bus, or Packman Surfs The World Mobile has visited 46 states (and counting) with two girlfriends (not at the same time) and my dog, Porto.
When in the US, I like to surf up and down both east and west coasts, the 'south coast' from west Florida through Texas, and in rivers and lakes in between.
The bus rides easy, holds boards galore, has a full apartment inside - with a double bed and kitchen - and has seatbelts for five. There's also a roof deck good for storage, sleeping, and socializing.
The main mural I painted myself with the help of staff, surfers, and neighbors paid in beers, joints, and magic mushrooms. The driver's side displays a rising sun, stretching around the back where it reflects on a wave, which breaks along the passenger side. The wave wraps around the front of the vehicle, where the town of El Porto is silhoutted by the morning sun, caught inside the tube.
The hand-painted lettering was completed by the talented Robert Pereida. The wave side reads "Life Is Beautiful" in bold surnburst letters acrss the side, while the front, back, and driver's side all read "Good Vibes" in the same font and colors. The El Porto Surf Shop logo and instructions to download the El Porto Surf Live Wave Cam App are painted around each side within the mural
Where should I drive next?
